17 persons, who returned to Andhra from foreign countries, test positive for COVID-1

VIJAYAWADA: A total of 17 people, who returned from foreign countries to their native places in Andhra Pradesh, tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Apart from these returnees, 66 others tested positive for the virus taking the total number of positive cases to 2,780. The tally includes 153 people from other states of the country.

According to the media bulletin released on Sunday, a staggering 11,357 samples were tested between Saturday 9 am to Sunday 9 am of which 66 tested positive. Eleven more persons who have travel history to Koyambedu Market in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu also tested positive.

Of the 17 who tested positive for the virus, 12 arrived in Kadapa district from Kuwait while three others came from Saudi Arabia and two from Qatar to other places in the flights operated by the Centre under the Vande Bharat Mission to bring back stranded non-resident Indians from abroad.

Meanwhile, 29 persons got discharged from hospitals across the state in the past 24 hours. With this, the active cases stand at 883. No death was reported in the state.
