2014 – 2018: The Great Fall Of TDP In Telangana

Well, the wonder remark many are making now is that Congress has got a dent by teaming up with Telugudesam party for the Telangana elections. They say that the arrival of Chandrababu Naidu into the battle scene has made the Praja Kutami weak and turned the election into Andhra Vs Telangana fight. But there is something else we have to read here.

Way back in 2014, when the Telangana sentiment is at an all time high, Telugudesam party managed to get 15 seats and 14.7 % votes share in the assembly elections, but now in 2018, their share has fallen to 2.9% in the state. This could be attributed to TDP’s teaming up with Congress and deciding to contest only in 13 seats rather the 119 seats in all over Telangana.

And then, TDP’s vote bank shifted loyalties to Congress party in many areas, as the party that got 25% vote share in 2014 is now eyeing more than 28% vote share. That explains how TDP has lost a huge chunk of votes due to joining Praja Kutami. Maybe the party that has redefined the shape of Hyderabad should really rethink over its strategies in Telangana to secure a better future.
