This Friday, there are no interesting releases at the box office including an adult comedy Husharu, followed by two dubbed films Bhairavageetha and Mohan Lal’s Odiyan. And then, there is an interesting talk around one of these films.
While all the films in the race are made with smaller budgets and being released on a small scale, we have this particular film costing the makers nearly 5 crores. Yes, it is none other than Mohan Lal’s Odiyan, which happens to be a dubbed Malayalam movie.
Actually, during the times of Janatha Garage, in which Mohan Lal played the role of NTR’s Pedananna, the actor got some craze with young generation audiences. That led to his film Manyam Puli collecting 6 crores in AP while it is bought for 1.5 crores. Basing on that, now Odiyan’s Telugu version distributor has invested a bomb.
But the fact is that the same Mohan Lal has failed to collect any exorbitant sum from the box office with his Manamantha. That is the reason investing 5 crores on Mohanlal that too with a window of just one week is a little risky. Because on December 21st, we have Anatariksham, Padi Padi Lechenu Manasu and KGF hitting cinemas.
