A Small Relief For Chidambaram But..

Former union finance minister Chidambaram got a minor relief from the Supreme Court of India. The top court has granted interim protection from arrests which is till August 26th in connection with INX Media which is being probed by Enforcement Directorate.

But Chidambaram will continue to stay in CBI’s custody until the further hearing which is scheduled on the above mentioned date. Kabil Sibal argued in the court on behalf of Chidambaram and made a strong remarks. He added that the Delhi High Court declared Chidambaram as guilty based on the notes of the probe agencies i.e, CBI and ED and did not give any opportunity to Chidambaram to respond on the notes.

However ED too made strong counters. “Chidambaram had at least 10 properties and 17 bank accounts abroad and the corruption money travelled all through these properties and bank accounts. We also have digital documents to prove that Chidambaram indulged in money laundering,” said Advocate on behalf of ED.

Kapi Sibal claimed that the report of CBI and ED is fabricated. After hearing arguments from both the sides, the Supreme Court postponed by CBI and ED cases to Monday.
