AP Bans Private Practice By Govt Doctors

In what could be a boldest decision, Andhra Pradesh government has banned private practice of government doctors. In order to revive the health department in the state, the YSRCP government has appointed Sujatha Rao Committee to come up with a detailed report and proposals.

The committee had submitted its report to CM YS Jagan and we hear that the report has nearly 100 recommendations. One of the hundred is banning of private practice of government doctors. However the committee opined that the wages of government doctors should be hiked so as it would act like compensation.

This recommendation will certainly impact thousands of government doctors and they might well protest against this decision. After submitting the report, Sujatha Rao committee discussed about the recommendations with CM YS Jagan and other ministers for over two hours. Later Jagan approved the committee report.

The other recommendations made by the committee are considering Arogya Sri at Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai super specialty hospitals. From January 1st, Arogya Sri scheme would come up with new set of norms and about 2000 diseases are likely to come under the scheme.
