Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing celebrations honouring the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR). On September 20, 2024, Bachchan took to Instagram to share a poster of the retrospective event organized by the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF).
In his heartfelt message, he wrote, “I’m happy that the Film Heritage Foundation is celebrating the 100th Birth Anniversary of Late Shri Akkineni Nageswara Rao, a Doyen of the Indian film industry, by releasing a few of his films all over India. My Best Wishes.”
The retrospective, titled “ANR 100 – King Of The Silver Screen,” is set to take place from September 20 to September 22 across 25 cities in India. The festival will showcase ten restored classics from ANR’s extensive filmography, which includes over 250 films spanning several decades. This celebration not only honors ANR’s contributions to Telugu cinema but also emphasizes his versatility as an actor who worked across multiple languages, including Hindi and Tamil.
Bachchan’s involvement in this event highlights the mutual respect and admiration between two of India’s most iconic actors. ANR, fondly known as *Natasamrat*, left an indelible mark on Indian cinema with his diverse roles and compelling performances. The festival aims to rekindle the magic of ANR’s films for contemporary audiences, allowing them to experience his remarkable screen presence and talent.
