Big jump in Trump’s popularity among Indians

President of United States, Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to visit India on 24th February. As part of their visit, Mr and Mrs Trump will tour Ahmedabad, Delhi and Agra. Ever since Trump’s India tour is finalized, social media is discussing how it could benefit him in the coming President elections.

Even before his trip to India has begun, Trump has something to cheer for. According to Pew Research Poll, 56% of Indians living in US are in favour of Trump and he has witnessed big jump from 14% in 2016. The survey says that Donald Trump’s popularity is on a rise among Indians and attributed it to President’s association with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘Those who are closer to BJP are also more likely to offer an opinion in support of Trump,’ – survey says.

Non resident Indians were dissatisfied with the stringent work visa rules, but they slowly began to approve Trump’s governance. According to the survey, US-Indian relations are held in high regard among Indians, with about 75% saying current relations as well as economic ties are very bright between US and India. On other hand, the Indians living in China are negative.

Only 21% of Indians have confidence in Xi Jinping and 36% do not trust in him when it comes to world affairs. On the while, Indians see US as an ally to India and China as a big threat.
