BJP’s Smriti Irani is not a graduate

Former HRD minister and current union textile minister Smriti Irani is caught red-handed for falsely showing her educational qualification. In 2014 elections, Smriti in the election affidavit claimed that she graduated from the Delhi University’s School of Open Learning in 1994. However, the University clarified that Smriti is not their student. A case has been filed against Smriti in this regards too.

Surprising everyone in 2019, Smriti claimed that she is just intermediate pass in the latest election affidavit she filed. On Thursday Smriti filed nominations for Amethi Lok Sabha seat and in her election affidavit she disclosed that she did not complete her Bachelor of Commerce (Part-I) — a three-year degree course.

Smriti declared personal assets worth Rs 4.71 crore and in that movable property worth over Rs 1.75 crore, whereas immovable assets of Rs 2.96 crore. She owns jewellery worth Rs 21 lakh and has vehicles valued at Rs 13.14 lakh and Rs 89 lakh in bank accounts till March 31, 2019.

The Congress is taking advantage of Smriti’s latest election affidavit and said that Smriti has lied in 2014 elections and so she has no right to contest the current elections. Congress is likely to approach the election commission of India over this.
