Buzz: Why Is Nani Avoiding Star Heroines?

One of the most dependable heroes among the Tier 2 cadre of stars in Telugu industry is none other than Nani. He has the ability to pull a film on his shoulders and run the total show even if script and direction goes for a toss. And his films have nearly 40 crores market.

An interesting observation is that, despite having such a vast market, Nani never tries to bring in star heroines for his movies. In the recent times, he has worked with Sai Pallavi (MCA), Anupama (Krishnarjuna Yuddham), Nivetha Thomas (Ninnu Kori, Gentleman) Shraddha Srinath (Jersey) and Priyanka Arul Mohan (Gangleader) who are no stars though they are talented actresses.

He picked Rashmika for Devadas, that was before she actually got the stardom. And for his next with Siva Nirvani, he’s said to have roped in struggling heroine Ritu Varma who worked with him earlier and later shot to fame with Pellichoopulu movie. One wonders why wouldn’t Nani go for the likes of Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani and others, who are easily affordable for the kind of budgets his films have.

Some say that Nani is not interested in starlets, but he is only fond of actresses who would challenge him on the sets and help him deliver better performance. Also maybe his producers don’t want to spend a tad bit heavy on the leading ladies. But roping in starlets will enhance the range of his films, isn’t it?
