Chandrayaan 2 takes off!

The Chandrayaan 2 which is India’s lunar mission, has successfully taken off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. Despite the cloudy weather, the GSLV MkIII cruised into the sky lifting India’s pride.

Chandrayaan 2 is India’s first space mission to conduct a soft landing on Moon’s South Polar region and explore lunar terrain with home-grown technology. With this India becomes the fourth nation to do soft landing on the lunar surface.

The total budget of Chandrayaan 2 is Rs 960 crore ($140 million) which is far less than Hollywood film ‘Avengers: Endgame’ ($356 million).
