Chilli ‘Kneels’ Down KCR and Naidu

The ongoing stir by Chilli farmers on support prices in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh forced the two state governments to come down. The two chief ministers KCR and Chandrababu Naidu ran pillar to post to address the issue with the help of the union government.

Farmers took to the streets and staged dharnas at market yards demanding to provide remunerated price which also led to a law and order problem in two states recently.

Convinced with the Telangana and AP governments demand, Prime minister Narendra Modi government has taken a decision to rescue the chill farmers immediately.

The Centre ordered the clearance of the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) under which the government will buy chillies at Rs. 5,000 per quintal till May end. Agriculture Ministry announced the procurement of red chillies under market intervention scheme in both the Telugu States.
