Covering 3,648 kms in 341 days, Jagan completes Padayatra

What started off on November 6th, 2017 at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district as a small step to climb to power in Andhra Pradesh, will finally culminate into a massive public meeting at Ichapuram in Srikakulam district for YSR Congress Chief Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy today. In all the 341 days, he walked over 3,648 kilometers to cover 134 constituencies in all the 13 districts of the state.

By touring across the state, Jagan and his party cadre are confident that they have understood the grassroots issues and have massive public support that will help them storm into power in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. According to party sources, the YSRCP Chief during his Padayatra met over 2 crore people from all walks of life.

Meanwhile, Jagan will unveil a 3-storeyed stupa to mark the success of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra. The stupa in itself is set to be a huge attraction for visitors. The stupa which is 88-metres tall will have a display of Padayatra’s photos on the first floor while the second floor is allocated for a picture of Jagan with his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and the third floor will have the party flag which will be hoisted by Jagan.

Political observers say that Padayatras have brought politicians to power in Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, Jagan’s father, YSR, who started off the Padayatra culture came to power in 2004 after defeating Chandrababu Naidu. And, Chandrababu came to power in 2014 and became the CM of the divided state of AP after his Padayatra. Going by the history of Padayatras, we are yet to see whether Jagan will win the election this time. There is also speculation that Jagan may announce his party candidates for all the 175 constituencies today.
