Cyclone Hits At 12:15, Resuce Operations Begins At 12:20

The cyclone Phethai has witnessed landfall at 12:15 Noon on Monday at Katrenikona in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. However, the entire district is receiving heavy rainfall.

Despite the rain, the Andhra Pradesh government started its action at 12:20 by sending response teams to Katrenikona for rescue operations. Under the supervision of the district collector, JCBs are being transported first so that these heavy machines can clear the roadway wherever it is blocked.

About 10,000 are stationed as part of disaster preparedness. AP officials is monitoring restoration and sanitation works and directed officials to get them done at war footing.
