Dhoni fined 50% match fee

The umpire Bruce Oxenford called for a no-ball decision that was revoked by square-leg and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni reacted angrily over him. He immediately walked into the playing arena to seek clarification from the two umpires. This happened during the final hour of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings match yesterday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

On this, Dhoni was fined 50% of his match fee. “MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain was fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the Indian Premier League’s Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur. Dhoni admitted to the Level 2 offense 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” said a media release from IPL.

The offense is considered as a Level 2 offense and since it is the first time, the minimum sanction has been levied on Dhoni with 50% fine. The decision by the umpire at square leg has overruled the original decision and this drew an aggressive reaction from Dhoni.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that “The skipper coming from the dugout onto the pitch…can not happen. I know he’s MS Dhoni, I know he can do what he wants in this country. But you’re not allowed to leave the dugout as a skipper and point your finger at the umpire out in the middle”. Usually, Dhoni is never seen losing his composure. But, yesterday, Dhoni lost his cool on hi 100th IPL win as a captain.
