#DishaAct: Centre sends back the bill to AP

Post the brutal rape and murder of lady doctor Disha, Andhra Pradesh government is the first state in the country to come up with a law on crime against women. In the winter assembly sessions, AP government has passed the Disha Act bill and sent it to the Centre for their formal approval to bring it to effective in the state.

Shockingly the Centre has sent back the Disha Act bill back to the AP Assembly citing technical reasons. The Centre mentioned about the loopholes in the schedule number 7 of the bill and asked to make appropriate modifications.

Having received the bill, the assembly officials have forwarded the same to the state government. Now the officials are busy with the amendments to be made as per the suggestions of the Centre. This may take some time.

Once the bill gets Centre’s approval, it will be passed on to President of India. The act will come to effect post getting President’s nod.
