First Look: Tabu’s ‘A Suitable Boy’

The first look of 48-year-old mesmerizing beauty Tabu’s next project, A Suitable Boy, helmed by Mira Nair, is unveiled as the actress first posts the film still on her Instagram. The picture shows Tabu as a courtesan and Ishaan Khatter as a young man who is attracted to her.

Tabu will play the role of Saeeda Bai and Ishaan as Maan Kapoor in the film. The young man Ishaan will be infatuated for a prostitute in the film. A Suitable Boy is a TV adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel of the same name. The first look shows Tabu beautifully dressed with garland and heavy makeup and sitting on a swing holding Ishaan’s face, who is seen lying in front of her admiring her beauty. The backdrop shows an old-fashioned house with beautiful architecture.

Both of them are dressed in ethnic wears and sharing the picture, Tabu wrote: “First look #ASuitableBoy.” The picture has also been shared by Ishaan Khatter on his Instagram. His post had many comments from stars like Mira Rajput, Tara Sutaria, Ayushmann Khurrana, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Karan Johar. Most of the scenes will be shot in Maheshwar and Lucknow besides a few other locations across the nation.

Tabu, who is known for taking up innovative and unique scripts has earlier worked with Mira Nair for the film The Namesake in 2006. “I’m very happy to be working on A Suitable Boy and especially with Mira. Having worked with her on The Namesake, I look forward to one more creatively charged experience.” Tabu quoted.

The film is all about multi-stories about four families – the Mehras, the Kapoors, the Chatterjis and the Khanas. The film will have a set of the 1940s, that is, just after independence for India.
