Fugitive RP seeks anticipatory bail

Sacked chief executive officer of TV9 television channel V Ravi Prakash is desperately trying to wriggle out of the criminal cases filed against him by the Cyberabad police in connection with the forgery and criminal conspiracy hatched by him to prevent the new management from taking over the channel.

According to sources, Ravi Prakash on Monday moved the Telangana high court seeking anticipatory bail to pre-empt the police from arresting him. The bail petition is expected to come up for hearing on Wednesday (May 22).

Sources said the bail petition is expected to come up before the bench of Justice Challa Kodanda Ram.

“In all probability, Ravi Prakash might get conditional bail,” sources said.

It may be mentioned that the Cyberabad police had issued lookout notices on Ravi Prakash and his accomplice actor Sivaji and served notices on them under Section 41-A of Criminal Procedure Code under which they can arrest the accused without any arrest warrant or court orders.

Even if he gets the bail, Ravi Prakash cannot escape from being questioned in connection with the case filed against him.

Apart from forgery and criminal conspiracy, the police also filed a case against him for selling TV9 logo and trademark to Mojo TV for a paltry sum of Rs 99,000.

Last week also, Ravi Prakash moved the court to get anticipatory bail to avoid being arrested by the Hyderabad police.

The court, however, said it was too early for him to seek the bail and if really thought he could be arrested, he could approach the court again.
