Ganguly As BCCI President, Shoaib Akhtar Reacts

Former Indian cricketer and captain Sourav Ganguly is all set to become the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and it was no less than a cliffhanger, especially after so much of suspense. The passion that he had brought to the ground every single time can now be witnessed as an able administrator. This belief is not only restricted to India, but Pakistani former cricketer and fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar feels the same too.

Appreciating the decision of making the Bengal tiger, Ganguly, as the BCCI president, Akhtar said that Ganguly had not only changed players mentality but also transformed Indian cricket during rough times. Shoaib Akhtar, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) under the captaincy of Ganguly, also assuredly said that Ganguly has an exceptional knowledge of cricket.

“I never thought India could beat Pakistan before 1997. Ganguly is that one person who transformed Indian cricket. He became captain for the Indian team and that’s it, India gained the power to beat Pakistan. Sourav Ganguly had also changed the mentality of Indian cricket. He had an eye to pick a talent to play for India,” Akhtar said.

Calling Ganguly a great captain, honest person and having a knack on cricketing, Akhtar believes that the latest decision is taken right. Ganguly had filed his nomination at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday. However, Ganguly’s appointment will be a short one as he will have to go in for a cooling-off period from September 2020, under the new rules. Millions of cricket enthusiasts grew up idolizing Ganguly and fans believe that he is all set bring another revolution.
