Nani’s Jersey has got unanimous positive talk and good word of mouth. Even critics gave thumbs up to the film and the ratings on ticket booking portals is also great. Yet, the film’s Box Office collections are not on par with the expectation. Given its ultra positive talk, trade analysts opine that the film is under performing.
While the film’s US collections are alright, Jersey’s BO numbers in Telugu markets is lagging. Even in the US, the film is expected to do well given super positive reviews. But surprisingly, the film hasn’t touched 1 million USD mark yet. Till Saturday, Jersey has collected only 726 K USD and the film may touch 1 million USD by Tuesday. It is rumoured that bad planning is one of the reasons for not able to touch 1 Million USD yet.
On the flip side in B & C centres, Raghava Lawrence’s mass entertainer Kanchana 3 has eaten into the collections of Jersey. Despite having mixed reviews, Kanchana 3’s BO numbers are on par with Jersey in Telugu states. Whereas Jersey is reasonably doing well. But that’s not enough. Since Jersey’s world-wide theatrical rights have been estimated at 27 Crore, the film needs to collect 50 Crore world-wide gross to enter into profits.
Amidst this, the challenge is how Nani and team Jersey would increase the promotions and sustain the hype in the coming week. Not an easy road ahead for Jersey.
