Huge Betting On BJP’s Election Deposit In AP

Not one or two, but ruling Bharatiya Janata Party which has not much presence in Andhra Pradesh has announced candidates for 123 MLA seats last night for the upcoming AP election. And that led to huge bettings taking place now in business circles.

While the triangular fight of Telugudesam, Janasena and YSR Congress has a meaning and interest, there is no way AP people would entertain BJP post their failure to give special status to the state. And now that BJP is fielding candidates in almost all the 175 constituencies of the state, people are wondering how much money they are wasting.

For picking candidates, already the top bosses and local leaders would have met umpteen times in Delhi and imagine the travel expenses of these meetings. Now that candidates are announced, their social media campaigns, TV ads, hoardings, flex sign boards and canvassing in constituencies is going to cost them huge. And the candidates should also deposit nearly 50K with Election Commission while submitting their B-Form and if they fail to secure the 1/6th of the valid votes, they will lose their deposits.

Whether BJP is funding this campaign or candidates are spending their own money, it looks like they will lose huge as the party has neither supporting vote banks nor AP people are fans of Hindutva agenda. While some feel that BJP candidates will get the deposit back at least 10% of the constituencies, others feel no way. And that’s what is leading to bettings now.

In which place BJP will get back their deposit back? Where they won’t? April 11th will find the answer and we will know the answer on May 23rd.
