Huge Competition For Nellore Ticket!

Nellore district unit of the Telugu Desam party is a confused lot. Apparently the lack of coordination between state minister P. Narayana, Aadala Prabhakar Reddy and Beeda Ravichandra is creating a lot of discontent within the cadre. Adding to this is the TDP high command’s confusion over deciding the candidate for Nellore Rural, Nellore City and Atmakur constituencies.

Apparently, Aadala Prabhakar Reddy had approached TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to give him Nellore Lok Sabha seat but apparently he was told that he will be given Nellore rural seat. Also, Prabhakar Reddy along with Nellore Mayor Abdul Aziz and Srinivasulu Reddy, a close aide of state minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy. Meanwhile, even NDCCB Chairman Mettukuru Dhananjay Reddy is also in race for rural seat.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP which won the Nellore rural constituency in 2014 elections is upbeat about its contest, in which the party’s Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy beat BJP candidate. Despite having a strong presence in Nellore rural, TDP in 2014 did not field a candidate in the constituency in 2014 elections.

However, now that there are so many aspirants, the party high command is seriously considering fielding its candidates there. Also, the party is carrying out a hush-hush survey in all the constituencies of the district. Currently, TDP has four MLAs from Nellore in Kovur, Udayagiri, Gudur and Vekatagiri but nearly six of them are lobbying to contest from TDP this time. Going by such intense lobbying for Nellore assembly seats, we are yet to watch how the TDP leadership will take a decision on this.
