Indian Woman appointed as MD of World Bank

An Indian woman has been appointed as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the World Bank Group and she is none other than Anshula Kant. Currently, this lady is serving as State Bank of India’s Managing Director.

Anshula has vast experience of 35 years in the finance and banking sectors. The world bank too awarded her this position looking at her capabilities and all-around experience. As the new MD and CFO of World Bank, Anshula will be responsible for financial and risk management of the World Bank Group. She will also be working closely with the World Bank CEO on the mobilization of IDA and other financial resources

Her academic details are, Anshula is a graduate in Economics Honours from Lady Shri Ram College and a postgraduate in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. Her work credits reveal that Anshula has managed to amass $38 billion of revenues and total assets of $500 billion as SBI CFO.

In a statement, World Bank Group president David Malpass quoted, “She’s excelled at a diverse array of leadership challenges including risk, treasury, funding, regulatory compliance and operations. I look forward to welcoming her to our management team as we work to increase our effectiveness in supporting good development outcomes.”
