The 2019 Indian Premiere League auction had big upsets. All the franchise preferred youngsters while experienced and senior players were ignored big time.
Telugu cricketer Hanuma Vihari was bought by Delhi franchise which changed it’s name to Delhi Capitals. Hyderabad team, SunRisers bought England cricketer Jonny Baristow for Rs 2.20 crore and Test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha for Rs 1.20 crore.
Indian captain Virat Kohli’s team RCB invested huge in young players. 23 year old Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dubey was bagged by Virat’s team for Rs 5 crore. Tamil Nadu’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy too made the most. Actress Preity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab bought him for Rs 8.40 crore.
England’s under 19 sensation Sam Curran also turned a hot cake for franchises. He was sold for Punjab team for Rs 7.40 crore.
In a big disappointment, Yuvraj Singh was once again left unsold. Cheteshwara Pujara, Manoj Tiwari, Naman Ohja, Brendon McCullum, Jason Holder, Shaun Marsh, Hasim Amla, Angelo Mathews, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales and other noted international players could also not get franchise’s eye.
