Puri Jagannath, the director who built a new standard for Telugu cinema heroism is off late on a poor patch. None of his films fared upto the expectations.
Under these circumstances, he teamed up with struggling star Ram Pothineni for iSmart Shankar which generated big buzz among masses with two trailers out and rocking.
When the discussion of what sort of business will the film do in trade market, here comes good numbers from producer Charmi herself.
iSmart is sold at 7.2 Crores in Telangana, Ceded 3.3 and total Andhra at 6.5 Crores. These are mammoth numbers along with Karnataka at 1.5 Crores and rest of India at 65 Lakhs (excluding US went for own release).
Adding to the figures, non theatricals and other miscellaneous accumulated close to 17 Crores.
Overall, Charmi says iSmart made highest pre release business ever in Ram’s career viz. 19.15 Crores theatrical and 17 Crores non theatrical taking the tally to 36.15 Crores.
Apparently, the film set for release in next week has kept big numbers at stake. Will Puri deliver a hit this time to pull out the buyers…fingers crossed.
