Even before the film’s release, none other than Puri Jagannadh himself had admitted that he was inspired from Hollywood movies referring to the “Chip” concept in iSmart Shankar that got moderate reviews and opened to terrific collections.
Now that the movie is out, the word is out that Puri’s iSmart Shanakr is copied from 2016 Hollywood movie Criminal. For beginners, Criminal is a 2016 American action thriller which is about a convict who is implanted with a dead CIA agent’s memories to finish an assignment.
Looks like, Puri has took out the main plot point and adapted into an Oora Mass movie as the protagonist Shankar (Ram) here is a contract killer. iSmart Shankar and Criminal have very close resemblances but Puri’s trademark hero’s characterization and Ram’s energetic performance make the difference from iSmart and Criminal.
As the reviews are mixed but openings were terrific, one has to wait and see, what is in store for the film in coming days.
