Jagan’s New Year Gift: New Districts In AP?

Andhra Pradesh government is planning for the chances of districts and might bring in twelve new districts by 2020 Republic Day i.e, on January 26th. CM YS Jagan has reportedly directed the officials to look into the prospects of district re-organisation.

According to the government sources, Jagan proposed to make each Lok Sabha segment as a district. The number of Lok Sabha seats in AP is 25 and currently, the state has 13 districts which means there are more chances of forming twelve new districts. Jagan informed the officials to complete this process in four months and also take the opinions of people, politicians and other organisations.

Regarding the new districts, CM Jagan is said to have dialed AP Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan in advance. Jagan believes that by forming new districts, the administration can be de-centralised and so the implementation of welfare schemes will be hassle free.

There are demands from Rayalaseema and Uttara (North) Andhra since very long time. The officials might take their views into consideration.
