The inclusion of Joginipalli Santhosh Rao into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi state executive as state general secretary has raised many eyebrows in the political circles.
Not many people know about Santosh – who he is and why his name has come into limelight now. Though he has been associated with KCR and the TRS for the last 16 years, he has been maintaining a very low profile but playing behind the screen role for the family and the party.
Santosh happens to be KCR’s yet another nephew. His mother happens to be the own sister of KCR’s wife Shobha.
Earlier, he used to be acting like a personal assistant to KCR’s son K T Rama Rao and after the TRS came to power, he became KCR’s personal assistant taking care of his appointments.
Subsequently, Santosh has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing the affairs of T-News, the official television channel of the TRS in the capacity of its managing director.
He also indirectly owns Ace Media, a production house which has been given the contract of telecasting all the government programmes and even assembly live coverage.
Though Santosh has not been directly involved in the TRS politics, he has been a virtual backroom boy for the party and coordinating the intelligence inputs.
Now, with KCR making him general secretary of the TRS, Santosh has officially made a political entry. News is that he might contest the next elections from Vemulawada constituency.
So, we have so far seen how the TRS is being run by four members – KCR, KTR, Kavitha and Harish Rao. With Santosh entering the scene, it will be gang of five now!
