Lay-offs in Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant & others

Giving a big worry to Indian IT employees, the leading companies of the industry are planning to cut down their headcount by a fairly large number. Owing to US President Trump’s working visa rules, companies like Cognizant, Infosys and others have begun to recruit employees in the foreign country and decided to ramp down the count in India.

In the process of implementing it, Indian IT giant Cognizant asked its top-level management to leave company by taking 9 months of salary as compensation. On other hand, Cognizant is expected to trim down 6,000 under-performers based on the ratings.

Making no exception to what’s going on in Cognizant, other top companies – Wipro, Infosys and TCS are also lessening the staff based on different criteria – like attendance, performance, rating, automation et al. According to a report, Infosys is expected to ask more than 1000 high-level managers (JL6, JL7 level) to leave the company with 1-day as notice period.

The slowdown of industry hasn’t left any major firm in India – including Wipro, TCS, Capgemini and others are letting go nearly 5% of their workforce. To compensate the void, these companies are relying on fresh recruitment in United States. A research, in this matter, reveals that more than 20-30% of reduction is expected in the industry by 2020.
