Meet Miss Universe 2019

South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi has been crowned as the Miss Universe 2019. The beauty pageant was held on Sunday night in Atlanta and about 90 women contested for the Miss Universe crown.

The winner, 26-year-old Zozibini Tunzi is from Tsolo, South Africa and she wore a silver and blue gown in which she looked elegant. Zozibini surpassed the likes of Miss Universe Puerto Rico and Miss Universe Mexico to emerge as the winner. A panel of seven women were the judges of the event.

Zozibini is an active fighter of gender bias and her reply to the question has impressed the jury. “I grew up in a world where women who look like me with my kind of skin or my kind of hair are not considered to be beautiful, I think that it is time that this stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face, then see their faces reflected in mine,” said the new Miss Universe.

2018 title winner Catriona Gray placed the ‘Miss Universe’ crown on Zozibini Tunzi in the 68th event of Miss Universe. India’s Vartika Singh also took part in this beauty pageant but could not make it to the top ten.
