Few films turn out to be such a big hits that the directors of those films will be in high demand. However, if a flop film follows that blockbuster hit, then their career will be pushed into the doldrums. Right now there are a bunch of such directors doing rounds in Tollywood for a hero.
Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada is such a hit that VI Anand became a sought after the director who went on to direct Allu Sirish’s Okka Kshanam. The film hasn’t worked however and since then Anand struggled to get a film and is still struggling with Raviteja’s Disco Raja. Director Chandu Mondeti whose Karthikeya and Premam are super hits has actually delivered Savyasachi only to sabotage his opportunities. His next is yet to take off.
After the super success of films like Soggade Chinni Nayana and Rarandoi Veduka Choodam, director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala delivered super duper flop Nela Ticket and is movie-less since then. While Ghazi is a path breaking film, Antariksham is such a dud that director Sankalp Reddy is yet to find a hero for his next.
That’s the story of blockbuster directors who are struggling and maybe we could add seniors like Puri Jagan, VV Vinayak, Sreenu Vaitla, Boyapati Sreenu as well to this list. They have once delivered blockbusters, but right now struggling to find heroes for their next films.
