Soon after the completion of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s padayatra – Praja Sankalpa Yatra – at Itchapuram in Srikakulam district on January 9, the Centre reportedly started making inquiries about its impact on the political scenario in Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.
According to sources, following instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central intelligence authorities made a detailed assessment of Jagan’s padayatra and sent a report to the Prime Minister’s Office on the same day of the completion of padayatra.
It is learnt the intelligence reports clearly told the PM that the padayatra would be a game changer in Andhra Pradesh politics and there is every possibility that Jagan would record a thumping victory in the coming elections.
“It has a long lasting impact on the people of Andhra Pradesh and Jagan could successfully establish himself as a powerful alternative force in the minds of the people,” sources quoting an intelligence officer said.
Based on the intelligence inputs, Modi will work out a strategy to woo YSRC into the NDA fold.
“If YSRC can win at least 15-20 MP seats, it would be of big boost to the NDA,” a source said.
