Polavaram: Navayuga knocks HC Doors

Ever since YSRCP make into power, the focus was more Polavaram project. As they were alleging corruption right from the beginning, CM YS Jagan appointed an experts committee to verify the allegations of corruption. The experts committee acknowledged the corruption charges and also advised the government to terminate current contractors and go for reverse tendering.

Based on the experts committee, YSRCP government has issued pre-closure notices to Navayuga and asked them to stop the works immediately. On August 17th, YSRCP government has invited fresh tenders for the head works of Polavaram. Raising objections over it, Navayuga has approached the High Court against the state government.

In its petition, Navayuga claimed that they are working on the project as per the norms agreed before signing the tenders contract. Navayuga also said in its petition that it is the only company which is finishing the works of the project on time. By terminating our contract, Navayuga’s reputation was hit and so the appealed to the High Court to allow them to complete rest of the works.

Navayuga has contract works worth Rs 3200 crore and the government also asked Navayuga to pull out of the Hydal project. The petition of Navayuga will come for hearing on today.

Meanwhile, the centre has asked for a report on progress of Polavaram project from authority.
