Rahane, Vijay Shankar in race for WC squad

Indian cricket team, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad said Ajinkya Rahane, Vijay Shankar are very much in race for the squad to be picked up for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Along with Rahane and Shankar, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is also in contention. However to select the 15-member squad, it’s going to be tough for the selectors as there won’t be any replacement after announcing the squad.

India is likely to announce the team on April 23rd as it is the last date set by the ICC. The selectors are also looking for third opener role as Lokesh Rahul is completely out of form. Pant is likely to get placed in Rahul’s absence.

The 12th edition of cricket world cup will kick start on May 30th. England is hosting this big tournament for the fifth time.

The ‘Men In Blue’s first match is against Proteas i.e, South Africa on June 5th in Southampton.
