Rangoon 4 Days Box Office Collections

Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest directorial Rangoon was one of the most awaited films before the release and was expected to earn respectable figures at the box office, considering it marked the reunion of Vishal Bhardwaj with Shahid Kapoor after Kaminey and Haider and with Saif Ali Khan after Omkara. It also marked the union of Kangana Ranaut with the critically acclaimed director. With Shahid, Saif and Kangana working together for the first time, everything was going in film’s favour, except the box office numbers. The film which opened to disappointing Rs. 6.07 crore, took its three-day total to a meagre Rs 18.25 crore at the box office. After a dismal start, everything was dependent on its Monday hold but that didn’t come either. The film failed to past the Monday test and has earned just Rs 1.97 crore taking its four-day total to Rs 20.22 crore.

The film which released on 1800 screens was expected to earn a good number at the box office. It’s so surprising to see that even after getting a mixed to positive reviews, the audience just didn’t turn up to the theatres to watch Saif, Shahid and Kangana in action. Talking about the performance of Kangana Ranaut’s films at the box office, her last hit was Tanu Weds Manu Returns back in 2015, after which she had two flops in Katti Batti and I Love New Year. Now a lot is dependant on her next Hansal Mehta directorial, Simran. Before Rangoon, Shahid Kapoor had Udta Punjab, though critically acclaimed, but was an average performer at the box office. He will next be seen in Padmavati. As for Saif Ali Khan, his last success was way back in 2013 in Race 2, and his next is a remake of Hollywood hit Chef.

Rangoon is a love triangle set against the backdrop of World War II and stars Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan among others.
