While Balayya went for the ‘9’ sentiment and January 9th is an auspicious day for NTR as well, trade circuits are little confused over this date from the beginning. And their confusions are today met by reality as the collections of #NTR Kathanayakudu are not as hopeful as expected.
Though the film Kathanayakudu is carrying stupendous hype, the openings of the film are quite low when compared to Balayya’s previous films Gautamiputra Satakarni and Paisa Vasool. #NTR was expected to rake in huge moolah on Day 1 but it looks like the film collected around 7.6+ crores ‘share’ from Telugu states.
Both Balayya’s films GPSK and Paisa Vasool have collected more than this with Satakarni touching even the 9.7+ crores mark. This proves that releasing the film on a weekday (Wednesday) cost Balayya couple of crores, while the same release on Sankranthi Festival Day would have registered terrific openings.
However, the film’s word of mouth is too good and from Friday it will be picking up like anything, say trade observers.
