Revanth Sets Muhurat To Quit TDP?

A major shock is awaiting the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana state if emerging reports are anything to go by. The party’s working president of the state and firebrand leader Revanth Reddy is rumoured to be quitting TDP and gearing up to join BJP soon. It’s buzzed that Revanth had already sent feelers to the BJP and BJP is apparently keen on roping in Revanth to strengthen the party in Telangana.

BJP National president Amit Shah, who is set to visit Hyderabad on April 7th, is expecting to have a private meet with Revanth. And once the terms are locked, Revanth is likely to join the BJP in Amit Shah’s presence during his three-day visit to Telangana in May. It’s said that several other Congress leaders and TDP leaders would also join BJP in Amit Shah’s May visit.

But considering that Revanth had several times stated that he wouldn’t quit TDP that gave him a life, it needs to be seen whether Revanth would bite the bullet or not. If at all, Revanth too quits, this would be seen as a deathblow to the TDP in Telangana which had once ruled the state and had strong foothold in the region.

TDP had been strong in Telangana from the grassroots and it had a strong cadre and leadership network at various levels in the region. But that’s past. After formation of Telangana state and TRS storming to the power, slowly TDP has lost its cadre, leadership to TRS which had meticulously conducted ‘Operation Akarsh’.

However, it’s all rumours for now. It needs to be seen whether Revanth would jump to BJP or not. But politically, it’d be a wise move considering that BJP would have prospects to shine in Telangana.
