Revanth to contest LS polls from Khammam?

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy, who gave too much build up before the recent Telangana assembly elections and even claimed to be a chief ministerial candidate, had lost his face completely after the elections results on December 11.

While PCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy could at least retain his seat even with a slender margin, Revanth had nothing to project himself before the Congress high command.

He disappeared from the scene for a few days and even after his return to the party, he has not been very active in the party activities.

Subsequently, he started lobbying for the party ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He threw his hat into the ring for Mahbubnagar parliamentary seat.

So, when he went to New Delhi to take part in the review meeting with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he put forth his demand for party ticket from Mahbubnagar.

However, Rahul straightaway asked Revanth as to why he had lost the elections when he had so much support in public in Kodangal.

Naturally, Revanth was embarrassed and he gave the same reasons which everybody gave: money distribution by the TRS, manipulation of EVMs and non-cooperation from the local leaders.

Rahul was not convinced with Revanth’s reasons, but asked him to work hard, setting aside the assembly election results.

When Revanth asked him about Mahbubnagar LS seat, Rahul said he should better go to Khammam, which is a safer seat as there is a stiff competition for Mahbubnagar seat.

Revanth got the message, but he did not say anything. If he moves from Mahbubnagar to Khammam, he won’t get the support from local Congress leaders. Since he would be a non-local, the people also might not vote for him.

So, he has landed in a tricky situation!
