Sachin Upset Over Dhoni’s Slow Batting

After India’s narrow win against Afghanistan by 11 runs on Saturday, the accolades have showered on Shami’s hattrick bowl and Bumrah’s saviour moves. However, Indian batting has been quite a disappointment compared to previous matches, especially Dhoni’s slow batting has irked many. Pointing out how Dhoni wanted the trio, Ganguly, Sehwag and Tendulkar, out of ODI earlier as he felt they were slow between wickets, netizens slammed him for the same reason recalling it all over again.

Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar too expressed his unhappiness over Dhoni’s performance and claimed that he lacked intent in the middle overs. Already, KL Rahul and Rohit’s feeble batting was a great discontentment by then, who batted well against Pakistan the other day. Later, the slow partnership between Mahendra Singh Dhoni (28 off 52) and Kedar Jadhav (52 off 68) had turned off many fans. ‘Dhoni-Jadhav partnership was just too slow against the Afghanistan spinners and felt slightly disappointed’, Sachin quoted.

He went on to slam that Dhoni’s performance could have been better and there was no positive intent at all. He pointed out how there were more than 2-3 dot balls. Soon after Virat got out, the team could not score many runs. Talking about Jadhav, Sachin called him rusty since he did not get much of a chance to bat in the middle. The cricket fans have been expecting enormous as the team scored at a healthy rate in the last 10 over against competitive teams like Australia and Pakistan in the previous games.

The score against Afghanistan was the lowest score in this World Cup for India so far. (224/8). And, the major blame could be made at Dhoni and Jadhav partnership who consumed 84 balls for their 57-run partnership.
