#Sankranthi2019: Tollywood Lost Almost 100 Crores?

Tollywood’s Sankranthi is always a big gamble with almost a couple of hundreds of crores riding high. As biggies compete with each other to release, surely there will be some pressure but still, the business will be around 300 crores easily. But what happens if most of the films fail?

Exactly that is the situation this Sankranthi with the likes of Vinaya Vidheya Rama and NTR Kathanayakudu failing at the box office, while Petta did a below average job. And imagine how much money the buyers, distributors, and producers would have lost in this gamble. Not less than 100 crores is the loss caused by Telugu biggies.

Apparently, Vinaya Vidheya Rama was supposed to make at least 100 crores share from the box office and #NTR biopic another 70+ crores easily. That’s their selling price to the distributors and buyers. If we look at the trade now, VVR might get a full run share of 60+ crores, NTR is likely to make 30+ crores hardly.

On the face, it is a 90 crores loss to distributors, while the depending business like food and parking lots will be losing another 10 crores easily. And this loss is going to show its effect on other upcoming biggies as distributors will not be able to afford the high asking prices.
