Shikar Dhawan is out of World Cup

In what can be called as an unexpected shock to Indian cricket fans, Team India opener Shikar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ongoing World Cuo tournament due to thumb fracture. The left-hand batsman, who scored a century against Australia in Oval on Sunday, has been ruled out for atleast three weeks.

Now that the Indian cricket fans are happy after Rohit and Shikar hammered centuries in first two matches, this news has come down as a big setback. Even though news came out on match day that injury of Shikar is just a minor one, it has now led him stay off the ground for next three weeks. Dhawan was at his best in the match against Aussies, where India won by 36 runs. Also, Team India is in good form with two back-to-back victories against South Africa and Australia.

Given the seriousness of his injury, ‘Gabbar’ is most likely to return to India soon. Also, the team Indian selectors may name a replacement for him in the World Cup. Either Ambati Rayudu or Rishabh Pant (standby players) may get a chance to join the Indian team, if Dhawan is completely ruled out of the series.
