Tollywood legendary director’s daughter becomes producer

Kids of famous actors, directors, producers venturing into films and taking up acting career is not new. We can see it across the industries in the country. The word Nepotism comes from the same practice.

Changing the trend, Divya Deepthi, daughter of Kodi Ramakrishna, a prominent filmmaker is all set to turn producer.

Divya Deepthi announced that she will be producing films under the ‘Kodi Divya Entertainments’ and as her debut venture as a producer, she will bankroll a project helmed by Karthik Shankar. Kiran Abbavaram is the main lead and Melody Brahma Mani Sharma will score the music. More details will be announced soon.

Legendary filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna is among the few directors to have directed more than 100 films. After Darshakendrudu K. Raghavendra Rao and Dasari Narayana Rao, Kodi Ramakrishna had directed more than 100 films, a feat that seems unbreakable.

Kodi Ramakrishna held the microphone with Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya, in 1982. In his career spanning more than three decades, Kodi Ramakrishna went on to make successful films across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi language.

Kodi Ramakrishna and Nandamuri Balakrishna are a hit pair in Tollywood. The first film in their combination, Mangamma Gari Manavadu broke several existing box office records. Later the duo worked for hit films like Muddula Krishnaiah,Muddula Mavayya.

He had touched a variety of genres like village backdrop, women centric film, political thrillers and socio-fantasy.

Kodi Ramakrishna made Arundhati, which made Anushka Shetty a leading star in Tollywood. He has created a sensation with films like Ammoru, Anji.Kodi Ramakrishna has done magic on the silver screen with the special effects in the film.

During his career,Kodi Ramakrishna had worked with Megastar Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Victory Venkatesh, Action King Arjun and other heroes. Avatharam, a devotional film released in 2014 was Kodi Ramakrishna’s last film as a director. He established himself as a filmmaker to make devotional films since 1990s.

Leaving Tollywood in a big sorrow, Kodi Ramakrishna breathed his last on 22 February in 2019 with breathing problem.He passed away while undergoing treatment.
