Top 5: Ala Vaikuntapuramulo A Winner By Huge Margin

1) Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo: Anil Sunkara, the producer of Sarileru Neekevvaru got offended by the ‘Sankranthi Winner’ tagline on the posters of Ala Vaikunthapuramulo. But the fact is AVPL is the winner by a huge margin.

In spite of releasing a day after Sarileru Neekevvaru, the Trivikram’s Celluloid collected more in seven days than what Mahesh Babu’s film collected in eight days.

AVPL has surpassed Rs. 100 Cr share mark from Sunday to Sunday and is still looking strong to go a fair distance.

It has high chances to become the Non-Baahubali industry hit if it maintains its strong hold in this week too. The film is closing in on the $3Million mark in North America.

2) Sarileru Neekevvaru: Forget the posters and tall claims of its makers, Sarileru Neekevvaru has stood its ground during the festive season despite AVPL storm and has recovered more than eighty percent of its investment.

It still has some fuel left in its tank to become a hit. However, Mahesh’s film was not expected to play the second fiddle in this Sankranthi clash. But as they say, content is always the King.

A film with better content and better all-round technical values denied the Sankranthi Crown for Prince.

3) Entha Manchivadavura: It takes guts to pit a small film like EMV against heavy weights like Allu Arjun and Mahesh. This gutsy move only assured a good first day for EMV and nothing more.

The artificial emotional drama has been turned by the audience and critics alike.

Satish Vegesna’s high hopes of repeating Shatamanam Bhavati feat came crashing down as EMV managed to feast only on the leftovers of festive season.

4) Darbar: Rajinikanth starrer was totally sidelined in this mega clash. The film was sold for reasonable rates, but it couldn’t recover those low costs too.

Darbar is a failure in Tamil markets too.

5) Tanhaji: Ajay Devgn’s ambitious period drama Tanhaji has hit the bull’s eye at the box office. The film has gone past Rs. 150 Cr mark and is set to become the first Rs. 200 Cr film for Bollywood in the New Year.

It is also the most liked film on Book My Show among the January releases.
