The horrific train mishap on Monday at Kacheguda Railway station, which was caught on CCTV footages, showed two trains, MMTS and Kurnool City-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity-Express colliding each other in an unprecedented manner. Due to the negligence of Technical department and apathy towards the signal, the trains ended up on the same track line.
In the unfortunate accident, MMTS driver, L Chandrasekhar, died after struggling for nearly 6 days. Chandrasekhar, who was stuck in the engine, was treated at CARE hospital in Nampally all the while. The doctors also amputated his right leg. In spite of being in the ICU for six days, the loco pilot lost the battle today. The doctors’ version was that Chandrasekhar suffered from cardiac arrest in the midnight, which led to his death. He underwent a surgery two days prior to the cardiac arrest, who was also on mechanical ventilator support.
The case of the loco pilot was disturbing to even imagine as Chandrasekhar was trapped in the driver’s cabin after the MMTS collided with Intercity Express train at the Kacheguda railway station. It is reported that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) used electric cutters to remove four layers of heavy metal and rescue him out that lasted almost eight hours.
The case has also been filed on him as officials pinned the blame on him saying that he had crossed a red signal at a negligence, causing the collision. The cases registered on him are under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act which endangers human life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
