TS Dy CM exhorts part-time lecturers to shelve stir plan

Hyderabad: Assuring that the State government was sympathetic towards their problems, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today asked the contract and part-time lecturers working in 11 Universities to shelve their dharna plan.

The Deputy Chief Minister made this assurance when a delegation of contract and part-time lecturers of 11 universities met him at his residence here on Sunday and apprised him of their problems. After a patient hearing, Srihari explained that as annual examinations were nearing and MLC election code was in force, it was not good for them to go on strike at this juncture. He exhorted them to withdraw their strike keeping the future of the students in view.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the State government would take a favorable decision by appointing a committee on increasing their salaries and regularization of their services. He also asked the lecturers to extend total cooperation to create cordial atmosphere in the Osmania University as it was going to celebrate its centenary celebrations soon.
