Uyyalawada: Chiru’s Wrong Choice?

After making a grand comeback with commercial film Khaidi No. 150, Chiranjeevi is busy with his TV show MEK that received lukewarm response. With this, Chiru is eagerly wanting to start his next film to overcome the failure of MEK. And Chiru is planning to do a historic biopic for his 151st under Surender Reddy’s direction.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy had lived only for a brief period. Besides revolt against British Army with an army of 2000 people, Uyyalawada’s story is very little known. And it wasn’t a successful story. Uyyalawada was captured and killed by British. He was caught at midnight and was tied with heavy chains and humiliated, tortured him. Four months after getting caught, he was hanged publicly and kept his head hanging at fort for about 30 years. This is certainly not a happy ending and it shares close resemblance to Alluri Sitaarama Raju.

Veering towards his personal life, Uyyalawada had two wives and a few reports had it that he had three wives but there was no substantial evidence about the third wife.

Besides the story and its historic significance, the film is going to be handled by Surender Reddy who hasn’t ever tried his hand at such subjects. Probably, Rajamouli or Boyapati or Krish would be apt. So, it needs to be seen how Surender Reddy is gonna handle it.
