Will Jana Reddy’s Son Be BJP Candidate In Nagarjunasagar Bypoll?

Another unwanted bypoll is going to befall on Telangana. Due to the unfortunate death of sitting Nagarjunasagar MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah, there would soon be a bye-election there. And the politics have already hotted up in the constituency and there are heated discussions about who would contest on which party’s ticket.

The seat has for many times been held by Congress strongman K Jana Reddy, but he lost in the 2918 elections to Nomula Narsimhaiah, who joined the TRS from the CPM. Though the Congress has reportedly asked Jana Reddy to contest the bypoll, he has refused to do so due to age-related reasons. Sources say that the BJP too has approached Jana Reddy with an offer to make his son Raghuveer Reddy as the BJP candidate. However, Jana Reddy as yet is non-committal. It is well-known that Jana wanted his son to be politically launched and wanted him to contest from Miryalguda in the 2018 assembly elections. But, the one family-one seat policy of the Congress Party then had prevented Raghuveer from contesting.

Meanwhile, Nivedita Reddy, the BJP candidate, who contested in 2018 and got around 3000 votes, is also trying for the BJP ticket. She is said to have met the BJP leaders on Tuesday itself. But, the BjP leadership is adopting a wait and watch approach on this.
