In the wake of two Boeing 737 Max 8 flights crashed recently killing 157 passengers of Ethiopian Airlines and 189 passengers of Lion Air Jet crash in Indonesia, all the countries ordered a ban on these flights.
All these flights have been grounded across the world and also in India as per the order of DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and they will stay the same until they are declared safe to fly.
While the safety is a priority here, the decision to ground these Boeing seem to be costing a bomb for passengers who already booked tickets for their journey in these flights. The rebooking costs are almost 50 to 100 percent extra to their actual ticket price. Many of the passengers could not get tickets in other airlines due to last minute cancellations.
While there is a holiday season coming up in next month and air traveler rate is going to go up, civil aviation department has asked Spice Jet to fly other flights in place of Boeings. Indigo airlines already announced a possible cancellation of a big number of flight services from March 31. Jet Airways too canceled 100 flights due to technical issues and pilot scarcity.
