2BHK housing scheme: Protests greet Harish Rao in KCR’s Gajwel

Will the housing schemes of KCR prove the TRS Party’s undoing in Telangana? The tardy pace of construction work and the disputes over allocation of the houses is turning the people against the Government. For instance, such popular and resourceful minister as Harish Rao had to cancel a programme in Pamulaparthy village of Markuk mandal in CM’s home constituency of Gajwel due to the protests in the village over allocation of houses.

When Harish Rao was inaugurating the double-bedroom houses in Chatlapalli, women stood up and raised slogans. They said that their names were not included in the list of beneficiaries and charged that only those supporting the ruling TRS were allotted houses. The officials and the TRS leaders had to pacify them by promising them houses in the next installment. In the nearby Pamulaparthy village of Markuk mandal, a youth, identified as Mahesh, tried to immolate self as his family’s name was not included in the list of beneficiaries. On knowing about it, Harish Rao cancelled his visit to the village. These two incidents have put a question mark over the housing scheme.

Interestingly, Pamulaparthy is very close to KCR’s farmhouse of Erravelli. These two incidents happened in Gajwel constituency, which is represented by Chief Minister KCR. However, TRS sources said that these incidents were mere storms in a tea cup and that the issues will be sorted out in consultation with the locals.
