Can Balayya sail through this time?

Film actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has got his ticket from the Telugu Desam Party leadership confirmed again. Hindupur it is, again for the film actor! As Hindupur MLA, though initially Balayya drew flak for not taking up development works, spending funds on solving the acute drinking water shortage and beautification programs in the constituency brought him respite.

According to sources, Balayya used his influence to also bring Krishna water from Gollapalle reservoir to solve the water crisis. Apparently this also helped KIA Motors meet its water needs. On the other hand, politically though the constituency has been a traditional stronghold of the Telugu Desam Party since inception, the going may get tough for Balakrishna this time.

Additionally, former Pileru MLA Iqbal Ahmed and Hindupur MLA Abdul Gani from TDP had defected to the YSR Congress Party. Abdul Gani who was a close confidant of Balayya, joined YSR Congress after being sidelined by the party. He publicly stated that he had sacrificed his him seat for Balakrishna yet the party had not given him any respect. Given that Gani is a local and may be fielded against Balayya, it may be tough for Balayya to sail despite the constituency being TDP’s trustworthy one.
