How can RSS man be Police observer for AP polls: TDP

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and APSRTC chairman Varla Ramaiah opposed the appointment of K.K. Sarma, who believes in RSS ideologies, as the police observer for polls in Andhra Pradesh. He raised the issue at a meeting, held by the Election Commission in Vijayawada, with all the political parties and complained about it to the senior officials. The meet was aimed at knowing the objections to various rules put forward by the EC in view of the polls.

Ramaiah said that their party had sent an e-mail regarding the same to the Election Commission of India in New Delhi. He reportedly met Sarma, a retired DG, and appealed to him to go back by himself. Ramaiah said that Sarma used to move around wearing RSS uniform in the past and reminded that Jharkhand and West Bengal had sent him back when posted as police observer to those states.

The TDP leader made it clear that sympathisers of political parties were not fit to be poll observers. He expressed fear that if Sarma was there in the state, polls might not be conducted smoothly. There is information that the TDP is also expected disturbance from YSRCP to ensure that polling is cancelled at some local booths and this news has only added fuel to the fire. Looks like the ruling party has a lot to worry about the upcoming polls as there are lot of obstacles it needs to overcome carefully!
